Hey, I’m Laura and I was 27 (in 2010) when I turned my back on my corporate marketing career to have a baby. I set my first business up on maternity leave with the intention of it providing me with some pocket money as a new mum.
Within 6 months, my baby casting business was bringing in the same amount as I was earning in my full-time job all because of the power of social media.
I had always assumed I would need to go back to my corporate job and swallow the eye-watering nursery fees and mum guilt to enable me to earn. Instead, I was able to be there for my family and work when I wanted. How I wanted. My casting business has continued to grow since (14 years on). It has funded family holidays, Christmas, and birthday presents and enables me to provide for my family.
It’s not been plain sailing;, like any business, there are ups and downs but through being consistent on social media, it’s still going strong, despite Covid hitting and multiple competitors emerging over the years. I’ve tried things that don’t work, I’ve felt broken, I’ve been burnt out, I struggled with imposter syndrome, and ultimately, I’ve learnt from my mistakes.
Through all the highs and lows I began to realise I needed to get back to my roots in marketing. I genuinely love helping small business owners like me succeed.
Since founding LG Insightful Brands in 2024, I’ve already helped nearly 500 people grow their businesses, giving them both financial freedom and the flexibility that comes with being their own boss. LG-IB alone now earns me more than my full-time marketing job did before I had kids.
Between my two businesses, I’m now making twice as much as I did in my 9-to-5 job—with a long commute—but working fewer hours and doing it all from home.
